Detective Inspector Claire North is recovering in a high-class leisure centre in the highlands, from a recent ordeal in the course of her duty. She meets popular TV detective and BAFTA winner, Lillian Watson - old pupil of the owner, Julie McLeonard - and the Culture Minister Sir James Hayward. When media consultant, Tony Williamson checks in with his PA, Helen Holmes-Smith, old scores come to the surface. His ex girlfriend and promising investigative journalist, Mabel, is the hotel manager, and the restful weekend is transformed into one of sleaze, drugs and murder. But does the right person get murdered?
